Mr.
Sivakumar Sathiamurthy comes with a legal
background.
After graduating with a law
degree, he was attached with a well known legal
firm handling insurance claims where he was
mentored by an experienced lawyer / partner of
the firm.
Having
seen the potential of the insurance industry, he
realized that the only way to master the
technicalities involved in the insurance field is to
work there. He joined the insurance industry and
today brings with him well over 15 years of experience
in handling insurance claims.
During
his tenure in the insurance industry he was one
of the few personnel nominated to serve Bank Negara
Malaysia as Claims Review Advisors in the
settlement of claims of Mercantile Insurance Sdn.Bhd. (now in liquidation) and was later
selected to be part of the Claims Review
Committee.
He
has considerable years of experience in handling Motor and
Non-Motor claims and was responsible for the
implementation of several innovations and
customer centric solutions within the department
and company.
Whilst in employment in the
insurance industry, he served as a committee member of
the National Insurance Claims Society (NICS)
which is an arm of the National Insurance
Association of Malaysia (NIAM) and was actively
involved in various projects in educating
and creating awareness of insurance practice
within the industry.
Before
becoming part of this team, he was heading the
motor division in the Claims Department of a well known insurance
company. He has extensive experience dealing
with related bodies such as the General
Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM),
Financial Mediation Bureau (FMB), Bank Negara
Malaysia, Institute of Motor Industry (IMI),
PUSPAKOM and other related bodies such as the
Motordata Research Consortium (MRC) which is
used in the assessment of Motor Own Damage
claims industry wide.
